The website is not new and I have used in the past the XML sitemap setting with WordPress SEO by Yoast. But after having recent problems with that sitemap, I disabled that feature and decided to give Google Sitemap a try.

I did a very basic set-up for this plugin and manually added the link to the sitemap in Google Webmaster tools.

Everything seem to work fine… But every couple of days I get a 404 error in Google Webmaster tools for the sitemap. Once I clear the ‘cache’ in WP Super Cache the link to the sitemap works fine again.

Is there something or a setting I should do to keep the sitemap working correctly without having to constantly clear the cache?

    Hi,

Unfortunately, we do not know the way the WP Super Cache plugin works and why it makes such problems to the work of the sitemap.
You should contact the WP Super Cache plugin developers and find out how the necessary exceptions can be set for the sitemap file and if it is impossible, draw their attention to the fact, that the plugin works incorrectly in such a case. It is impossible for google to get the sitemap file as the result of the work of their plugin.

    Sincerely,
