Sitemap 404 error

  • Hi! I have been using WordPress for a while and now I am new with SEO. I wanted to retrieve a sitemap from my website so I installed Yoast SEO. However, after following the instructions, and clicking “view the XML sitemap”, it appears to be a 404 error page. I tried a different method of directly retrieving the sitemap from WordPress, but the same problem continues. Now google Search Console cannot find my sitemap either. Is this a problem when I use WP-optimize to cache?
