• I created a sitemap for my site using the Google sitemap wordpress plugin, (Google XML Sitempas). It says that it is successfully submitted, however, when I log into my Google webmaster tools, it says that my sitemap is not listed.

    Thoughts?

  • you have to actually submit the sitemap on webmaster tools

    the plugin creates the sitemap…usually in WP directory so for me, it’s

    domain.com/wordpress/sitemap.xml

    @dcneuro,

    Did you go through the site verification process at Google Webmaster?

    Yes, I believe I did. I think the problem lies in the fact that I have wordpress set up in my root directory as a sub-folder. As such, I had to copy the sitemap.xml to the root directory so that it could be found. (Or, I guess I could have redirected it from Googles end).

    you shouldn’t have to copy the sitemap anywhere? just point google to its location

    If you copy it, you have to do that every time you post…which is when it is updated

    if it gets created in a subdirectory…just tell google that

    domain.com/wordpress/sitemap.xml

    if your sitemap is created in root

    domain.com/sitemap.xml

    I did change it to the wordpress directory. It keeps showing a red X under status in Google webmaster tools. I have another site, https://www.dcneuro.info, the same set up seems to wok fine there as the sitemap is recognized. Not sure what is wrong with the https://www.dcneuro.net site.

    I have the same problem. My blog is in a sub-directory, https://raymondtreasureproperties.com/blog and according to the Google Sitemap XML Generator plugin, my sitemap should be: https://raymondtreasureproperties.com/blog/sitemap.xml But when I enter it, nothing shows. When I submit to Google Webmaster it shows an error getting the sitemap.

    I have been searching all over the web for a solution to this problem but can’t find an answer.

    Please help!
