UA-970391.-. is showing up but it’s not defined anywhere on the site(no snippets or head inserts) this old UA-970391.-. ran concurrently with the new g4 and GTM.

It only appears in the source code after site kit is activated and I follow the prompts to set up analytics, we changed to GTM and v4 around a year ago – the site has been rebuilt since then 2 or 3 times.

it’s not in the tag manager so I am at a loss to understand what’s going on.

    thanks

  • Hello @keniry ,

Thanks for reaching out to us.

    1. Are you seeing UA-970391 as an existing snippet while setting up Google Analytics module in Site Kit?
    2. It seems you are using another plugin to place Google Tag Manager. Please see here. So its a very good chance that maybe old property UA-970391 was setup from there.
    3. If you want to share your Site Health information privately via this form we may be able to assist with determining the source of the snippet. It may have been placed via theme configuration, theme insertion (header.php or footer.php).

    Best Regards,

@keniry were you able to locate the existing UA property? Feel free to respond back with the above requested information in case you are unable to locate.

OK so I sorted this out….

There was no other plugin or snippet setting the old UA property.

The property was being set in google tag manager, in a variable called Google Analytics Setting – which is a default setting label.

I created a new variable with the new property and called it UA-12345678 setting which makes a lot more sense since the UA id is otherwise so hard to notice.

    hope this helps other people.

Many thanks for sharing the additional insights on this. Tag Manager is indeed one of the methods we can considering should other users encounter the same. Best of luck with your site going forward.
