    So, another problem;

    before I installed sitekit, I had Google Tags implementation; it was working as expected.

    with Site Kit installed, it wants to connect to a new Google Tag Workspace and simply would not open up to my existing workspace;

    so, I created a new workspace;

    now as expected; I have two workspace(s), with all my tags, etc. in the original workspace;

    this new workspace is labeled with ‘AMP’ and not ‘web’; and I cannot export / import the tags from my original to new amp.

    kindly advise how to implement the workspace and how to import the original tags, etc. into the new

    much obliged.

    Hi there

    These forums are usually only monitored on weekdays during regular business hours. Please allow some more time for a response than just three hours on a Sunday.

    I am sure someone will jump in soon and help you with your request.

    In the meantime, have you initiated Google Tag Manager setup in Site Kit? As far as I know, it will try to automatically detect and integrate your AMP workspaces.

    @waseemnaikgmailcom As reported in your other support topics we would need more information when you mention that Site Kit “simply would not open up to my existing workspace“. You should be able to select the account and container to use when setting up the Tag Manager module. If you’re unable to select from the dropdown or if it displays no options let us know and we can hopefully assist.

    If you are able to select the different containers to choose from you can select both a web container and an AMP container from the same screen. The selected web container will only appear in your non AMP URLs while the AMP container will appear in AMP URLs only. If you have tags which you want to apply to AMP URLs only insert those tags into your AMP container and vice-versa.

    >> If you’re unable to select from the dropdown or if it displays no options let us know and we can hopefully assist.<<

    that is exactly what happened.

    my previous created GT (GTM-WLC5B79) was not an option; the only choice given to me was to create one (GTM-NRHF94Q).

    all my tag management is under the …79 one.

    >> If you have tags which you want to apply to AMP URLs only insert those tags into your AMP container and vice-versa.<<

    additionally, in this newly created …4Q workspace, I cannot import JSON files created by …79 workspace.

    I am now realizing that the GTM-WLC5B79 will be reporting web and the GTM-NRHF94Q will be reporting AMP. which is fine and makes sense

    however, I am not clear on how to go about replicating the web tags / variables into the amp workspace manually. as mentioned earlier, since the import does not work; I am left without rudder.

    much obliged for your help.

    @waseemnaikgmailcom Thanks for the update. Unfortunately we’re unable to assist when it comes to replicating your regular container tags into your AMP container tags, although the Tag Manager Help Center might be of use, with guides on setting up AMP containers.

    In relation not being able to select your containers within Site Kit can you try disconnecting the Tag Manager module before trying to setup once more using a browser incognito window? When asked to login to your Google account during setup please select the same Google account which you’ve used to setup Site Kit (which I assume is the same one you’ve used to setup Tag Manager).

    Let me know if you encounter the same problem and we can troubleshoot further.

    so, I disconnected and reconnected;

    same results, no show of GTM, just GA under incognito window with google assistant

    @waseemnaikgmailcom Thanks for the update. Just to confirm, when you mention “no show of GTM, just GA under incognito window with google assistant” are you referring to the Google Tag Manager assistant extension as per this topic?

    Thread Starter wn nj

    (@waseemnaikgmailcom)

    yes,

    Google Tag Manager Assistant shows only GA and not GTM, even though through testing I know GTM is alive and functioning;

    you have the url; you can check and confirm for yourself;

    @waseemnaikgmailcom Thanks for updating. We’re aware of the false notice in relation to the non standard implementation, you’ll find out more here. This should be corrected with future versions of the Chrome extension.

    Going back to your original query can you confirm you’re able to select a standard web container and an AMP container now successfully?

    >>can you confirm you’re able to select a standard web container and an AMP container now successfully?<<

    I have no idea how that can be done?

    the steps in site kit only allow for one container and it forced AMP container on me;

    the previous WEB container was not an option and still is not an option.

    (@jamesosborne)

    @waseemnaikgmailcom Thanks for the update. And apologies for the confusion on my side, as you’re using a standard mode AMP website you won’t see separate container options for both web and AMP. You’ll only see both container options when using AMP in transitional or reader mode when using the official AMP plugin.

    Let me know if you have any further queries on this.

    (@waseemnaikgmailcom)

    ah, so that explains.

    thanks

    which begs the question, does GTM’s amp container cover all possibilities of web and amp ? I am getting full scope ?

    TIA

    (@jamesosborne)

    @waseemnaikgmailcom Good question. The collection of tags to choose from in an AMP container may differ to ensure AMP compatibility. You’ll find a list of supported AMP tags when visiting this help center article.

    If you’re looking for further assistance with the tags available you can also use the Tag Manager Help Center.
