I have a site hosted on Siteground, and though Wordfence appears to be working as intended, Siteground flagged it today as containing malware–specifically the file wordfence/lib/wordfenceConstants.php

Wordfence scans, of course, did not flag itself as an issue, but Siteground is pressing the importance of removing it.

What is the best practice here?

    Thanks!

  • Same issue here.

    Hey @kurilissa,

    Glad you reported this.

I experienced the exact same issue today. SG ticket issued. Did you issue a ticket with them? If not, I recommend doing so. The more, the merrier.

At this time, the malware flag issued by SiteGround against the file you shared above is considered a false positive. Waiting for SiteGround’s response.

Depending on SiteGround’s response, the issue you reported may not affect Team Wordfence at all.

I will update this post soon after I hear back from SiteGround Support.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Cheers ??

    Update:

SiteGround Support replied to our ticket. This is what they said:

The file has been marked as a false positive as we continue to investigate the situation internally on our end.

The website has been reinstated for public access.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the website accessibility interruption.

Following the above, if SG is still flagging your website for malware due to the above file, please open a ticket with SiteGround Support so they can solve your situation.

I also recommend closing this topic as “Resolved” since it does not affect Wordfence at this time.

    Thank you!

Thanks for the update! We did a fresh scan with SiteGround’s SiteScanner on our end and it’s not flagging the file anymore, so hopefully all’s solved. Marking resolved.
