Yesterday I tried to add Paypal buttons to two of my pages, and noticed it didn’t work. I checked info on the theme and it appears it isn’t supported so I need to change the theme. But before that I wanted to backup my site but I can’t seem to get any plugins to open (though they say they are activated.) Called my webhost and they tried to help me change the theme and it seems locked so they asked that I contact you for help.

This is my 1st WP site.

I don’t know if the paypal buttons are the cause of the problem but they are on this page: https://www.art-together.com/wholesale-orders

Thank you for any help you can give me.

    Sorry for late reply….
I’m not sure what you mean adding PayPal buttons isn’t supported by this theme, but what is of concern is that you said everything seems to be locked up such as plugins. Usually when things happen, it’s due to a plugin, so the common solution is to disable all plugins, and then one-by-one, enabling them while testing your site with each one that you enable. If a plugin is at fault, this is a good way to find it.

As a side note, I should mention that my Preference Lite theme is being discontinued as soon as the theme review team here at www.remarpro.com review and approve the new one I created. Preferential Lite will be replacing it, which is based on Preference Lite, but offers many functions and features that are different. You can check out the Details HERE, but if you want to switch to the new one, contact me HERE and I will be happy to send it to you.

Thank you so much for your help.

My Paypal Add to Cart button on the page I referenced doesn’t work and I’ve followed all the directions. I thought I read that Preference Lite doesn’t work for selling something. Does it actual allow for selling items? (I sell a book at multiple quantities so need a drop down menu feature.) If it does, please, can you tell me how to fix the problem.

Also, does the current theme support backup plugins like Updraft Plus Backup and WordPress Backup to Dropbox? Those are the types of plugins I installed when I started to notice a problem. It says they activate but the content doesn’t show up in Settings like it’s supposed to.

This is my first WordPress website and am really hoping to use it for a grant proposal that has a deadline for next week . I really like the look of your themes and hope I can stay with you. I will look at the other theme you mentioned also.

Thank you again for helping me.

There should be no reason that it couldn’t be used as an ecommerce site as I am sure out of the near 85,000 downloads some have. Not sure where you read it doesn’t allow selling of items though…as for being usable with other plugins, for the most part, you should be fine.

Anyway, I do not know how much work you’ve done already on your site setup with Preference Lite, but I would recommend changing to the Preferential Lite that is going to replace Preference Lite. Much better in functionality, features, and better design and code. Contact me and I will send it to you.

Hi, thank you. I’ve been working on my site for literally hundreds of hours over the course of the last several months.

I’ve sent you a request to send me the replacement.
    Thank you!

Yikes…well, hopefully when you install and activate the new theme, it won’t take too much effort to redo theme options, widgets etc. One important note is that the Preferential Lite is not an update/upgrade to Preference Lite, so when you install and activate it, WP will see it as a new theme and this means you will need to redo your theme option settings, such as colours, etc, as well widgets.

Ok, thank you! I’m going to follow the directions you posted and will let you know how it goes. Your sites are so beautiful. I really hope I can make this work. Please say a prayer for me ??

Problem,…there is no theme folder in the zip you sent me.
    What do I do?

Just figured out how to unzip the folder. Guess that’s step one! Noticed it’s called preferential not preferential-lite when unzipped. Just want to let you know so you can change your documentation.

My mistake… I actually sent you an invalid theme package which you will need to delete that and then use the one I just re-sent you which is the correct one. Sorry about that.

You were right, it was a problem with a plugin. I’ve got everything working properly now! I’ve decided to stay with Preference Lite for the time being since I’ve since learned that I didn’t actually use the Child Theme (like I thought I had) and would have to spend a lot of time redoing my work to change to your new Preferential Lite.

Does Preference Lite template work w/ WordPress 4?

    Thanks again!

Preference Lite works on WP 4.0…so you are safe ??
