I was editing my home page and added some new blocks. I noticed there is now an option to upload media from a mobile device with Jetpack (which I have installed on my site already). I installed the app on my iPhone.

I can see my site on the iphone via Jetpack, but the site will no longer load on my PC or ipad or phone on a browser. So I can’t edit it currently other than via Jetpack on my phone.

If I can’t edit via my laptop how can I fix whatever broke?

Edit: I disconnected the site from JP on my phone. Now I can’t re-add it and the site still won’t load on my PC.

It’s fixed now – my IP was getting blocked due to excessive wordpress xmlrpc hits

If you’re running something to block or limit XML-RPC access, I recommend either removing that or increasing the limit.

Blocking XML-RPC is not an excellent solution for fighting security risks. Instead, it’s akin to selling your car because you don’t want it to be stolen.

Your site’s XML-RPC file is like a communication gateway to your site. The WordPress Mobile Apps and several plugins and services will use that file to communicate with your site. If it’s blocked, different issues will pop up down the road for the same reasons.

xmlrpc.php is just as secure as wp-login.php. If you have a strong password, you have nothing to worry about, and we have plenty of other recommended security measures that don’t block or limit XML-RPC.

If you didn’t block or limit XML-RPC, I suggest contacting your hosting provider and asking them to remove the block or limit. Our recommended hosting providers have found other ways to protect their servers without hindering your site and your ability to use apps and connected plugins/services with your WordPress site.
