I received an email from a visitor to my site – she was about to comment on one of my posts and noticed that she was logged in as me; Nigel Howarth.

She took a snapshot of her screen that you can view by clicking here showing the problem.

Obviously I am concerned as there is, potentially, a security problem lurking somewhere in the system.

My website is Cyprus Property News

Any thoughts on what may be happening?

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thanks for your prompt response esmi.

Unfortunately it seems to be an intermittent problem. I’ve tried replicating it myself by logging out and then visiting the site on my computer – and I’ve also tried visiting the site using my wife’s laptop. But as far as I can see, everything is working fine.

I don’t believe it’s the theme – I’ve been using it for almost two years without any problems.

It’s interesting to read what you said about plugins, is there any way I can check these out by some other means?

Only by deactivating all plugins and then re-activating them one by one.

Many thanks esmi, I believe I have found the plugin that was causing the problem.
