Your site loads in 2.92s seconds according to gtmetrix which is not so bad. However, you may look at the report and optimize it to further improve speed. BTW, are you using any cache plugin?

2.92? If I try via pingdom.com its 6s or more, and If check my google analytics metrics, its even 13s on some pagess… so which software/webapps should I believe?

You can only take an approximation of results given by different tools. Even the same tool may give different results at different times.
W3 Total Cache can also create problems some times look at the report below (quoted for markup errors). It has a large number of cached data which is rather weird.

In order to know what is actually happening, you need to deactivate all plugins, revert to Twenty Twelve theme and run the tests.

See the large number of markup errors and warnings. Correcting them can help.

Yes, yesterday after posting my message, I disabled half of my plugins (and indeed saw a huge increase in my loading time). I laos changed my theme, to pick up a more performant one.
I don’t have that much traffic at the moment anyway – on average 100 visits a day, some days 1000 but very unfrequently…
I’m planning to grow my audience, but is W3TC really that useful? I disabled it and my site was going much faster…

I have seen these sentences, written by you, like above, many times when you talk about websites optimization.
Honestly, I always feel confused when I read them but I haven’t paid too much attention, thinking that I just don’t have enough knowledge.

As said above, now my site goes much faster – W3TC is disabled.
Frederick are you part of the w3tc team?

My understanding is that W3TC is a very powerful tool – but kind of heavy. Maybe for my needs (a site with 100 UV a day on average) it is not required to have such a plugin…

Now im quiet happy with the speed of my site. Im building another site, and I also saw the same pattern – much slower with w3tc enabled. Well, I have to admit, maybe my config is the reason why it’s slow… but I tried at the time to change several things and it didnt have any impact whatsoever.

Every site needs caching. The idea of “heavy” is irrelevant. If disk enhanced page caching doesn’t make your site faster then it means that it’s not actually working and there’s a bug or conflict. If you submit a bug submission form from the support tab of the plugin or send me an email, I’ll take a look.
