• Not understanding what’s going on. Somehow my site got upgraded to 3.5.2 with all my plugins, and I didn’t do it. Had been using 3.5.1, this happened within the last 3 days. Site is https://www.chrisparente.com

I’ve searched some threads, I have no Auto Update plugin, and when I go to Tools, I see no option for automatic updates.

This broke a mod to my WPTouch plugin. How do I prevent this from happening again? I’d like to control these decisions. Thanks in advance.

You should double-check with your hosting providers to see whether they automatically update WordPress versions.

Just spoke to Bluehost, they said No. So still a mystery.

WordPress cannot update itself – full stop. So someone updated it.

Right, which is why this is frustrating.

and now it looks like I may be double emailing my subscribers, one html and one text version.

I’m sorry but there’s absolutely nothing we can do to help here – other than to confirm that WordPress is incapable of auto-updating. ??

How do you explain this then (copied from Dashboard > Updates):

    Check Again
You have the latest version of WordPress.
Future security updates will be applied automatically.
If you need to re-install version 3.7.1, you can do so here or download the package and re-install manually:

Auto-updating has now been added as of version 3.7. Until a site is at 3.7, it cannot auto-update.

As the gentleman above stated that’s a new thing with 3.7. Prior releases did not have this ability.

Also as this is an old thread that zero to do with WordPress 3.7+ I’m closing it.
