Site Title Not Changing?

  • Hi,

    I chanced my site title through the settings – general page and for some reason the title has not changed. It’s been like this for weeks and when i search my site through Google it still displays the old site title? Google also seems to be using the description of the first post on my site as the description that tells the user what my site is about. Can anyone help me fix these two issues please?

    You should try Yoast SEO plugin, it gives you a tremendous amount of control over these details.

    Any change on your site takes one or two weeks to reflect on search engines . Try submitting sitemap through google webmaster to keep your site links updated in google index.

    Hi,

    I’ve done all the on page SEO manually so i don’t want to install Yoast. My sitemap was last crawled on February the 3rd and it’s been weeks since i made the change so cannot understand why it’s not picking it up?

    Yes I already have google webmaster set up for my site and I’ve resubmitted my site map again and nothing has changed?

    How long ago did you request that it be reindexed?

    Do you have any caching plugins on your site or server?

    I resubmitted my site map on the Friday just fine. I have the WordPress super cache plugin running. I’ve had this plugin for a couple of years now without any problems.

    On Friday? That’s yesterday? IT can take Google several weeks to reindex a site.

    I remember that I ran into similar problem a while ago. What does the results show on the following tool?

    I understand that I only resubmitted my site map yesterday but I changed my site titile over a month ago and it hasn’t changed in googles search results. I just tried the tool and when I do a search it shows the correct site title but why it doesn’t show when I do a search in Google is beyond me. Also my sites description keeps changing from the one I entered and sometimes googles uses the description of the first post on my site?

    Only patience would help. Allow some time for Google to re crawl the website and show the updated links. If you force-do something, Google might blacklist the domain.

    OK I’ll wait but not sure if it’s gonna do anything cause i waited weeks on end before this and nothing changed.

    Sounds like something you should ask Google. Or try using an SEO plugin.
