    Hi Guys n gals,

I couldn’t find anythig recent on this issue, so here goes…..

I am reflecting on two different site structures:

    a] My site/page/page/post name, or
    b] My site/page/page/page.

I believe Option a] is better for SERPS/SEO because when the customer searches the post name, the url becomes: My site/post name

In other words, the key focus of the search is closer to the domain name itself and so the page will be considered more relevant.

Moreover, I was advised on WordPress 5 years ago that Posts load more quickly than Pages. I am not sure whether this is still the case, based on the avaiability of quick caching plug ins nowadays.

The BIG UNKNOWN [in my mind] is which url site structure will enable the WHOLE site to be ranked higher by Google.

This latter question is now my BIG ISSUE before I continue adding content.

Your opinion, and that of any SEO experts out there on the Forums, would be most welcome.

    Thanks!

    Scott

    belenenses,

Are you using Yoast SEO plugin?

If so you can change how your SERPS appear. First I would start in the settings. Change your permalink structure or you can achieve this within the Yoast plugin settings as well.

The great thing about Yoast’s plugin is that you have control over what is displayed in your SERPS. Certainly worth checking out. If you still need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

    Hi Greg

Thanks. Yes I am a great fan of Yoast myself.

However, that is On PAGE SERPS, whereas I am wondering whether SITE STRUCTURE itself scores better SEO-wise with one of the two options:

    a] My site/page/page/post name [breadcrumbs],
    which becomes
    My site/post name
when the customer searches my post name

    or

    b] My site/page/page/page – i.e., I make the final ‘post’ into a page instead.

    Any thoughts?

    Cheers!

    belenenses,

I usually set up any site I design to read the page or post name first, then site name.

So usually something like this in Yoast %%post or page name%% the %%sitename%% is what I have determined normally works the best in the way of on page SERPS.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Greg,

Yes, the snippet preview – very useful and I seem to have done this without any conscious input on my part.

    Cheers!
