Site structure help

Hi Folks,
I need to set up a main site with four subsites underneath it. So the addresses will be:
https://www.mainsite.com/subsite1
https://www.mainsite.com/subsite2
https://www.mainsite.com/subsite3
https://www.mainsite.com/subsite4
Can anyone please tell me the best way to go about it?
Could I just setup each subsite as a subpage?
