    Hi there,

Your screen shot shows a monthly view for Jetpack stats, so it’s not really useful for comparing day-to-day stats with Google Analytics, and it’s also not possible to see exact daily totals on the Google Analytics screen shot.

But I checked your site stats on our end, and stats are being recorder correctly. We did have a temporary outage on January 14/15 which led to some visits not being recorded for those days, and I see a corresponding drop in views on your site, which explains part of this discrepancy.

Also keep in mind Jetpack and Google Analytics do not track views in the same way, and Jetpack automatically filters out automated traffic, which might not be the case with Google Analytics depending on how you have it configured.

Ad blocker browser add-ons can also block Jetpack from recording visits on your site, while those add-ons typically don’t block the tracking done by Google Analytics, so it is normal for Jetpack stats to be lower than Google Analytics. Given how significantly your site’s traffic has grown in the past few months, it’s to be expected that the normal discrepancy would also be proportionally bigger.

Thank you for the response, I’d like to point out that the discrepancy daily is very huge, as much as 100,000 views.
We started experiencing this issue immediately after the 14/15 outage. please see a sample of daily views on Jetpack and GA below.
Please note that before now we only use to experience a difference less than 5,000 buy not it could be as high as 100,000.

Looking forward to a swift response from you

For January 28, as per the screen shot you provided, Google Analytics indicated you had 324 598 views, while Jetpack stats shows 257 071 (noting your screen shot for Jetpack stats has 16 January highlighted, not the 28th as your Google Analytics screen shot).

So Jetpack views are lower there, yes. But at the same time Jetpack shows a views per visitor ratio of 4.85 for the 28th where Google Analytics shows 2.9, so there Google Analytics has a lower number.

This is because Google Analytics and Jetpack does not track the same thing, and they don’t track visits in the same way. There will always be a difference between the two.

But stats on your site are being recorded correctly in as far as Jetpack is able to record it, i.e. where tracking is not being blocked on the visitor’s end, and where is is not traffic coming from a source we exclude automatically, like bot traffic and automated referral services.

No please check the jetpack image carefully the image in pink is what I loaded and if you look carefully you would observe that in the url link, please take a careful look again.

Please note as I keep emphasising that we started experiencing this issue immediately after the 14/15 outage

The stats difference is just too huge to be dismissed.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding there!

What happened is that we had a conflict with our plugin and the AMP plugin, which resulted in our stats coming in at about _half_ of what they should be when using AMP.

We corrected that … but so did the folks behind the AMP plugin, which then resulted in stats coming as _twice_ what they should be. Fun times. ??

The issue is now corrected in both plugins, so if you’re on the currently release of Jetpack and the current release of your AMP plugin, your stats will be normal going forward. Unfortunately, there is no way to correct the past stats.

Sorry to bring up this topic again, the truth is the stats are far from being accurate but aside that another issue is that the country stat is not correct, it is showing South Africa as the major source of traffic.
Beyond doubt, almost 90% of our traffic is from Nigeria as we are an indigenous website

    Hi –

Sorry to hear that you’re still having some trouble with the stats. Can you let me know which version of the Jetpack and AMP plugin you’re using? Have you already tried disabling and reconnecting it to the site since we launched the fix?
