• I have been having issues with my site speed. I thought it was the images, so I worked for the past week to resize them. After all of that work, my site is slower!
    Pingdom.com recommends:
    Combine external JavaScript
    Parallelize downloads across hostnames
    Combine external CSS
    Leverage browser caching

I don’t even know what those things are, let alone how to accomplish them. I’m a complete novice. I installed these widgets to try and help my site speed but saw no improvement:
    Autoptimize
    WP Super Cache

  • Time to first byte is the time it takes for the browser to receive the initial response from the webserver. Ideally TTFB is under 500ms and at the first webpagetest you were at approx. that threshold, but tests now indeed show a much higher figure.

Not sure if you changed anything besides installing Cloudinary, but I would suggest you systematically try to revert changes until you found the culprit (because as it stands now have gained perfomance with the images, but lost -a lot- with that TTFB).

    Loading is ok for me.

Thanks everyone for the help. Shutting of and enabling the Analytic dashboard helped fix the byte time. I’m going to have to systematically fix the image issues, but we are making progress — and eating cookies while doing it!

    Hey Everyone,

I have been working on page speed issues as well and found that This worked for removing querry strings:

I am still having issues myself with Total Cache not compressing css files, Parallelize downloads across hostnames and Combine external JavaScript. Does anyone have any advice. I have found that on some sites if I remove Total Cache it fixes all page speed but not for the site I am working on now which is

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
