Site Slowdown

I have a fairly simple WordPress website which was using the Custom Sidebars widget. I noticed several pages of the website were loading extremely slowly, if at all. From other forum suggestions I decided to try the P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) widget to see if it could help me locate the problem. It provided a graph which showed which plugins could be significantly affecting the load time.
Most plugins caused no significant delay in the page loading time. WP Core came in at about 0.20 seconds and JetPack was not surprisingly the second highest bar on the graph at around .26 seconds. The Custom Sidebars widget was the significant slowdown coming in at .75 seconds.
After deactivating Custom Sidebars, the site returned to being blazing fast and completely functional. The plugin worked fine with some earlier versions of WordPress, so I don’t know what the problem is.
