• My site is running really, really slow, and some links don’t seem to work at all. For instance, when I click the image links in the left sidebar, Search for Homes and Waterfront Homes, the request seems to complete but the page is not served. Sometimes it will come along a few seconds later, somtimes not at all.

Google webmaster tools tells me my site is slower than 88% of websites, and I can’t have that! The site is hosted with godaddy, and the url is: https://www.baconrealtygroup.com.

I would really appreciate any insight.

    Thanks, Dan

  • Loads really fast for me, on a Windows box in Houston, Texas, but then again I am on a corporate T1 line.

I went to Pingdom and ran a test, which you can see here.

Didn’t see anything really amiss except one huge honking file, https://www.baconrealtygroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/St.-Petersburg-Tampa-Bay-Waterfront-Homes-Condos.jpg

Thanks Jon, I’ve seen this problem off and on. Its loading for me now too, but often it drags on and I get incomplete requests. It was particularly bad when I posted earlier. Maybe its temporary server issues with the host?

Yes, thats a massive file, but one of the three most popular on my site. Ive been thinking about how to restructure that…

Just optimize it with image editing software. Photoshop has Save for the Web; other programs have something similar. Might want to resize it as well, just a tad. Or use a thumbnail and link to it, letting the user choose whether he wants to view the larger image. ??

And it’s JonI, BTW, I’m a girl. (At least my husband seems to think so!)

JonI, sorry about that. The problem with that page is that the feed comes from an IDX service that allows us to imbed information directly into our site. I can make the images smaller – guess that will help but it wont solve the lack of respose earlier. Must be occasional server issues? Thank you for checking it for me…
