• Hello everyone,

My WordPress site was hacked recently, but the problem has since been solved. However, I noticed a significant drop in my site’s traffic (21,000 visits in April, 13,000 in May, 9,000 in June, and it looks like it’ll be 5,000 by the end of July).

Obviously, the hacking must’ve had an effect on the site’s traffic. And the content is fine. I use the same SEO methods I’ve always used, but I was hacked in late April or early May, and from there was when the traffic declined.

So, I’m wondering how I can get the traffic back up to where it was before the hacking when it was a steady amount?

I enabled the SSL on my site (so it’s now an HTTPS site instead of HTTP) and re-submitted my site to Google and Bing among other things. I also checked my Google Search Console to make sure everything was in good shape and the site is fine it said.

So, I am not sure if there’s a way to get the traffic back to where it was. I’m not sure if it’s a coding issue of some kind or if it’s something else that I don’t know about. Would greatly appreciate any help in this situation.

Thanks so much for the help as always.

    Great.

Ask Google? If you took care of it then your traffic will eventually come back.

you might be on some blacklists. Check out virustotal or spamhaus or xbl.

Thanks for the response, guys. I tried virustotal and it said everything is clean. Unfortunately, it looks like I’m going to have to build it back up again, even though, using the same SEO methods that helped me get a steady amount of views, isn’t really working anymore, unless it just takes time.

Not sure if there’s anything else I can try.

Also, I hope you’re right Jan because it seems like the traffic just continues to drop. This month will be the lowest I’ve had in at least 4 years. I am very happy that the hacking has stopped but the damage has definitely been done that’s for sure.
