    So one of my customers said that a link I sent them to my site (through email) prompted a “virus warning”. She sent me a screenshot of the virus warning, and it looks like randsom-ware to me. She says her tablet is now “disabled” until she calls a certain 855 number. Suspicious.

    I looked at the source of my page and didn’t see anything odd. So it’s possible that her tablet was already infected with malware and it’s a coincidence. Any thoughts on how I would detect if my site *was* infected with something?

    There is a good chance the issue is with her device. That’s usually how these ‘call to fix’ scams work. I didn’t get any warnings and Sucuri scan (as suggested by @tara) was clean ??

    Thanks for the advice. All scan tools have run clean, and I haven’t found anything poking in the code myself.

    After talking with some friends who fix computers for a living, it sounds like it’s common for ransomware to lie in wait for a little while and then activate when visiting a random site – that way it’s harder to trace where it came from. Still sucks for my customer, but I think I’m in the clear.
