Tracking down performance issues on a local installation of WordPress. I have a fair number of plugins being used, so it’s been tough to nail down, but I’ve found that with Yoast SEO 7.0.2 enabled, my site load time (according to Query Monitor) averages 5.4 seconds. With it disabled, it drops to averaging 3.8. That is the only change so it’s clearly Yoast. No idea what version this started on but hopefully there is an answer?

Identical situation here – except in my case it’s even worse. With Yoast SEO disabled completely, my site load time is 3.0 seconds, with 7.0.0 enabled, it goes up to over 5 seconds as well, but with 7.0.2 enabled… it spikes to a staggering 20 seconds. This is very, very concerning. Rolling back to 6.3 for the time being…

WPSEO_Options_Backfill::extend_wpseo this was added in 7.0.2 version is using massive server resources.

Exactly same problem. My site has become very slow after the update. I will roll back to 6.2. It is unacceptable for a seo plugin to be so heavy on the system…

Same here! My site was very slow since v7.0.2. and my server collapsed.

I went back to and older version. I’ve deactivated the plugin.

Yoast SEO v7.0.3 has been released. Can you please update your plugin to the latest version to check whether this resolves the issue?

If the issue persists, would you mind sharing the relevant query that shows in the query monitor which is taking so long to execute?
