• Hey there,

I’m running WordPress 3.1.3 with the Elegant Grunge theme on a Dreamhost hosting plan.

Here is the site I’m having issues with: https://www.stringloveguitar.com

For a while now, I’ve been dealing with an annoying issue where 30-40% of the time I update something within the admin panel, I’m sent to an error page that says “Not Found.” and below that: “Sorry, no posts could be found here. Try searching below:” and then a search bar. Those errors look like a normal page on my site rather than the admin area.

Now, I have a new problem. My site doesn’t seem to be updating. I had made some changes in the titles of the top nav menu, and when I look at the nav menu in the same browser that I made the changes, it looks correct. However, on another computer I don’t see the changes showing. For example, “Free Lessons” (the updated version of the nav menu text) shows up just as “Lessons,” which is what it was before I updated it a couple weeks ago.

I usually work in the wp-admin in Chrome. And when I view my site within chrome, I see all the changes showing up. But when I open Firefox, none of the changes were showing. So just now I went into Firefox and just hit update on a page that I knew wasn’t showing up as the newest version of said page within Firefox, and after updating it from wp-admin in Firefox, the page is now showing up as current when I surf to it in Firefox.

But when I go over to Safari, where I’ve never worked on the site from wp-admin, none of the changes are showing.

Another change that isn’t showing: my recent posts at the bottom of the sidebar doesn’t show the four most recent posts.

Other changes that I’ve made to specific pages don’t show up either.

Any ideas on how I can fix this issue?

Apologies for not being as clear as I need to be about the details of all of this. Please let me know any additional useful details I can share and I’m happy to share them.

Thank you so much for any help you can offer.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I have tried all of those things now, and they don’t seem to have fixed the issue.

When I visit my site through another computer, none of the changes I’ve made that I can see on my computer are visible.

Are you running any caching plugins?

    No. No caching plugins.

At present, after running through your recommendations, I’m only running Akismet.

Switching the theme didn’t seem to do anything…

The problem with the admin randomly giving a “Not found” error does seem to have been improved thanks to disabling plugins, so that’s excellent.

But I’m much more concerned about the fact that my site is apparently not showing the updates that I’m making.

Specifically, major page changes that I make aren’t showing up. My Recent Posts widget in the sidebar doesn’t show my four most recent posts. And my top nav menu isn’t displaying the changes I’ve made.

But I can see everything displaying correctly in browsers where I’ve logged into wp-admin and updated my site. That’s the weird thing that’s really stumping me…why can I see the site as updated while nobody else can?

Also, I believe these problems are related to the latest WordPress upgrades to 3.1.2 and 3.1.3. Things seemed just fine before I ran those updates…

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using wp-admin/upgrade.php.

Hi there, I’m having the same issue.
I have tried all of the above and the problem remains unsolved.

What is this happening, it seems really odd?

Thanks for any advice you may want to share
