Site not Loading. Preview and wp-admin work fine

So, I’m transferring a site i was working on in MAMP to a live server (a reseller server which i have other wordpress installations on fine and have never had a problem).

I copied the Database and the files and updated all the necessary URL’s/uploads folders etc.

I can access the wp-admin fine and even preview the pages/posts from the admin (and navigate the site from there). All the meantime the correct URL is being displayed in the browser so I know its accessing the right files.

BUT! when I try to access the direct URL from the web browser it just loads and loads for ages and eventually times out. Its not a PHP error thats causing a blank screen it just says ‘connecting’ and then the usual suggestion that something is wrong with my connection.

I can access each page with the URL directly (the permalinks have been reset to default) but not the homepage. Ive tried a clean installation of wordpress 3.3.1 and its the same error. Ive tried removing the database and starting with a clean db but same error.

Please help. All suggestions appreciated
