• I have a local community blog https://www.pontevedrafocus.com that has been up for several months. For some reason it’s not getting indexed by Google. I have SEO by Yoast installed and figured that would do what it needs to. But, it’s not working. I’m not enhancing posts with keywords, as I figured the content would do the trick. But you can search on words used in older blog entries, and the articles aren’t coming up.

I’m really not sure what to look for to see why the site isn’t coming up on search terms that it should.

I’m not interested in being contacted by SEO companies. This is a labor of love, and I don’t have a budget for that. Just some straightforward tips would be appreciated.

The robots.txt file says the following:
    User-agent: *
    Crawl-delay: 1
    Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/
    Disallow: /wp-admin/

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

No, it only tells you what YOU need to do.

Good content, regular updates, and an easy-to-navigate site are essential to good SEO. But if you write a post about dogs and only use the Latin Canis familiaris rather than the English “dogs”, Google isn’t going to automatically know that your post is about dogs.
