Remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

It looks like a hack to me, because it’s everything, but if you feel it’s a site-wide character encoding issue, contact your hosting provider.

This is what I see in Chrome 44.0.2403.157: https://d.pr/i/1dwKZ/HcK9CcZz

Have you tried clearing Chrome’s cache?

how would we fix a hack?

In this case, no, but I strongly suspect it.

its not working on mac’s or I phones using chrome but work on windows devices using chrome, we followed the advice on”this guide” an did a security check and everything has come up fine, we are seriously considering pulling the site and starting fresh but then again it might just happen again, it a really interesting guide i think it will help a lot, we are using names for our host, do you think it would be worth calling them? again thank you, im really rubbish and your advice is great

If you’re sure that’s not the problem, try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue.

If neither of those made a difference, try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
