• I’ve just moved my WP site to a new folder within my parent site, from https://www.ryderjason.com/hallawell to https://www.ryderjason.com/hallawell/home/wp. I’ve followed the instructions in Moving WordPress, but now the site is giving me a 500 internal server error when I navigate to any of the pages. The homepage is hand-coded and is located at https://www.ryderjason.com/hallawell/home. That of course comes up fine, it’s just the wordpress pages that don’t come up. The site was working fine before the move.

I assume I don’t need to worry about permalinks, as I don’t have any blog posts.

    I don’t know what step 12 means:

In some cases your permissions may have changed, depending on your ISP. Watch for any files with “0000” permissions and change them back to “0644”.

Do I need to restart my server? Is that it? If so, I’m not sure how to do this…

  • The first thing that I’d suggest doing is deleting the .htaccess file, and re-setting your permalinks. This will create a new .htaccess file for you. When you move direcotries, the .htaccess file needs to be updated too, and this can only be done thorugh WordPress by changing your permalink settings. So, you’d change them twice. Once to set it back to ‘Default’, and second to set it to what you want it to be again.

Yes, as Michael, I suggest you to re-setting the permalinks.
I have similar experience, after I moved my site when I visited any posts on my site it said “Not Found. The page you are looking for no longer exists.” Then I did as Michael said

So, you’d change them twice. Once to set it back to ‘Default’, and second to set it to what you want it to be again.

and my site worked fine again.

That worked perfectly. Thank you so much! Now I’ll clean it up and then attempt moving it to another server. That ought to prove interesting…

    Great !!

And don’t forget to mark this post as “Resolved” so another people who have the same problem will know the solution. ??
