• I have inherited a wordpress site and have made various changes to it over recent weeks. It is fairly basic but includes a festival schedule of events that is managed via various php scripts. There are various other static pages that are accessed via the main wordpress menu that utilise various snippets.
Recently, the menu has stopped working – navigating via the menu does not error but does not link to the expected page. The only page that consistently works is the events page – the one that is php scripted. I have resorted to removing all other pages and making the events page the homepage – this has stabilised the site but reintroduction of other pages has the effect of destabilising navigation.
My hosting provider suggests that I have moved the site location (I have not) and that the permalinks need to be addressed. I have disabled and re-enabled these to no advantage.
Looking at the source code, I see the menu using wp-json to redirect page links. Whilst not paying attention to this in the past, I think that this is new to the site. Is this something introduced in a recent update?
any have any experience of something similar and any advice on how to rectify?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I have a few questions?
Are you using a page builder? If yes? What page builder? Elementor or WP Bakery?

Use the customizer i.e Appearance -> Customise
    Select Menus

Browse the menu listed for whichever seems like the standard menu with all the links you are not seeing

Scroll down and make it the primary menu for the site.

Hi and thanks for your response

I am using the standard wordpress customiser: Appearance –> Menus to build my menus

The really strange thing is that when testing in design mode (logged into wordpress) the menu operates normally. When in operational mode, the linkage fails…

To me this seems to be an issue with json – is it possible to circumvent this?
