Having renamed the/wp-admin page as a secret login /?aiowps_secret=1, as of yesterday it’s coming up as an ‘Error 404 – page does not exist’.
It was working fine. Now I don’t know how to login to the site to repair.
    Can anyone help? Cheers.

Hi, did you rename the page to something like yoursite.com/1234 ? So when you type on the address bar in the browser the following URL yoursite.com/1234 does it work?

If you want to get back into your admin site, carry out the following steps.
    1) Rename the plugin folder via FTP. Then log into your site. Rename the folder back to its original name and check the Brute Force rename login Page settings.

Out of curiosity, what permalink structure do you have set up in your site?

Let me know how you go.

Thanks @mbrsolution – I’ve followed your steps but still can’t login.

    renamed page: https://celiagates.com/lifting-the-lid
system default name for this page: https://celiagates.com/?aiowps_secret=1
Both the above links show – error 404 – page not found

    1) Plugin renamed in FTP folder BUT /wp-admin page cannot be found. Error messages says: This site can’t be reached 127.0.0.1 refused to connect.

Not sure of permalink structure – guessing its the default setting as I was in the process of re-building site due to former security issues. Seems its now so safe I can’t get into it myself!

    Cheers for your help.

Hi, I think you are doing something wrong. I just tested the following URL [https://celiagates.com/wp-login.php] and it allowed me to land on the admin page. That means that your settings are incorrect or something else is breaking your setup.

Please check the following documentation. Even though it is for a multisite set up, the steps are very similar to a single site.

Also, please don’t publish here in the support forum secret words or personal details for security reasons.

    Kind regards

    Hi @mbrsolution

Cheers for your help – I eventually solved the problem this morning by disabling the htaccess file and regaining access to disable the plugin. Yet to turn it back on but Im back in the site. Thanks again.
