Hello, I am trying to setup Google Tag Manager in Site Kit for WordPress. I have already created an admin Tag Manager account with container. However, I keep getting the rror message ‘Error: Request parameter is empty: accountID’.

Also, it sees my Tag Manager account but not the container

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for reaching out, hopefully we can be of assistance. Can you share the following so we can inspect your setup and troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can share privately via this form.
    2. At what stage during the Tag Manager setup process do you encounter this message?
    3. If selecting to create a new Tag Manager account during setup with Site Kit as opposed to selecting an existing account does this allow you to proceed?

    Hello @jamesosborne

    1. Site Health information shared via the form
    2. At the very first stage of attempting to connect the service
    3. No, it doesn’t allow me to proceed. Same error message and the ‘confirm and continue’ button is greyed out.

    Thank you

Many thanks for sharing, very useful. I noticed some plugins which have the ability to disable your REST API. Can you try and follow the steps below and inform me if you’re able to proceed?

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Attempt to setup the Tag Manager module once more

Let me know how you get on, or whether you have any questions on the above.

Thanks for your assistance @jamesosborne. I followed all the steps and attempted the setup but still got the same error message; Error: Request parameter is empty: accountID.

Thanks for providing an update, sorry to hear that didn’t allow you to proceed. From inspecting your site once more I noticed a Tag Manager insert in your sites source code. Have you since been able to insert any Tag Manager snippet?

If not a third party plugin may use Tag Manager to function on your site. I’m happy to check some of the plugins you have active, but before doing so please inform me whether you’re aware of any such plugins. The existing tag manager reference on your site indicates a GTM-ML2J9FD property ID.

@technig since we have not heard from you, I am marking your topic as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you have further questions.
