I began using the Site Kit plugin several weeks ago, and I began noticing recently, in the Site Kit Summary showing top content over the last 28 days, the page title with the most views is: (not set)

This links ultimately to my site’s home page, which appears next in the list (with its correct title), and which had previously been first in the list, prior to (not set) appearing.

In other words, my site’s home page appears twice in the Site Kit Summary of top content over the last 28 days: first as (not set) and second as its correct title.

Is this a problem and, if so, how would I fix it?

    Thank you.

    Thanks, Luckyna.

When viewing the last 14 days, the (not set) entry is still visible.

My site has been https for at least two years or more, and has never used a staging URL.

The only URL displayed by Analytics is the correct one.

    Thanks!

Thanks @mikeharrison I’ll report back to you here once I have an update.

I was hoping to eventually report this issue has cleared, but Site Kit reported this morning that 621 users apparently visited my site yesterday (April 10) alone and, again, the URL appears as (not set).

To be clear, I am not suggesting there is a problem with the Site Kit plugin (I don’t know enough to make that kind of suggestion), but I cannot understand what would cause these sudden spikes in page views.

    UPDATE:

After doing some exploring, all things now point to this being a case of referrer (or referral) spam.

@mikeharrison Others who may be encountering this issue will find your update helpful so thank you for following up! We will close this topic here. Hopefully, you can reach out to the experts at Google Analytics for assistance on how to clean this data.
