    Hello,

    few days ago Site Kit stopped working following error:

    I tried to reset che connection but it is always providing the following error:

    Looks like your site is having a technical issue with requesting data from Google services.
To get more help, ask a question on our support forum and include the text of the original error message:

    No special change performed.

    @emilianomaina we have seen a number of similar issues this week and have been investigating. This has now been escalated to the engineering team who are running further checks.

    The GitHub issue for this can be found here: https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/4569 and I will provide an update on this topic as soon as we have one from the team.

    @emilianomaina Thanks for your continued patience as we worked with you to troubleshoot this issue. As Adam noted, we’ve discussed this further with our broader engineering team.

    Our team did take a look at your site’s specific case in regards to the 403 error that you’re seeing via cURL. There are two possibilities here:

    1. Your site is blocking the connection to the Google API. FastComet is indicating that this is not the case, so we’re taking them at their word there. I do think it’s unlikely that they’re blocking it as we have many users on FastComet hosting who have not had any issues.
    2. The Google APIs are blocking your site’s attempt to connect. As noted in this GitHub issue, the Google APIs can and do block IP addresses for a variety of legal reasons. Unfortunately, the Site Kit team does not have any insight into which IPs are blocked directly and why, which means we’re not able to unblock for you.

    As you’ve seen, without the ability to connect to the Google APIs, Site Kit will not work. I wish I had better news here and I’m sorry that I don’t have more information for you on why this is happening.

    I’ll mark this topic as resolved for now to indicate that there’s unfortunately no further steps that the Site Kit team can help with, but if you have any questions, let me know.

    Can I check anything on Google Cloud Console?

    Basically Google Site Kit Is telling me is that as summary:
    1) I cannot use Google Site Kit with the IP of my host
    2) Google Site Kit team does not know of and why some of Google APIs are restricted for the IP of my host

    Considering that both Google Analitics and Google Adsense stopped to work forma Yesterday (economic impact) which are the options do I have?
    I mean:
    a) escalating within Google organization
    b) technical workaround to male Google Adsense and Google Analitics to work again

    @emilianomaina An update for you: We are now aware of an issue where some users, like you, are seeing a google_api_connection_fail error when setting up Site Kit or on their Site Kit Dashboards. As noted previously, this message indicates that a site’s IP address is blocked by Google APIs, which are required for both setup and usage of the Site Kit plugin.

    We are actively investigating this issue, which appears to be related to a change in Google APIs behavior. We will update here as soon as we have more information as well as timeline for a fix. Thank you!

    @emilianomaina thanks for your patience throughout this. We have now confirmed that this is an issue for sites on the Frankfurt region Linode servers and are continuing to investigate. We will share another update as soon as we have more information.

    @emilianomaina Thank you again for your patience here. As Adam noted, we’ve identified that this connection issue is occurring for sites hosted on Linode’s Frankfurt region servers. These servers are sending some incorrect information that is leading to Google blocking their attempts to connect.

    Unfortunately, this isn’t something that can be fixed directly in Site Kit, so we’re working with the appropriate parties to get things resolved. I don’t yet have a timeline for when a fix will be ready, but we’ll be sure to update here as soon as we have a better idea of timing for a fix.

    Considering the nature of the issue, Is It possibile that it’s impacting other integrations with Google APIs?

    @emilianomaina Correct. Right now, any integration that tries to connect to a Google API from a Linode Frankfurt region server will have its request blocked. That’s why this requires a much larger fix than just Site Kit, unfortunately.
