Thanks for opening a support topic. If you’d like to share the following information we’d be happy to investigate this further.

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred
    2. Do you see any notices or warnings when checking your Site Health status (which is different to your Site Health information tab). You can use a service such as Imgur to share privately if preferred
    3. Do you see this notice anywhere else on your site, and not specifically on your Site Kit dashboard?

Once we have the above we may be able to determine more on your site. The “Critical error” notice is a generic WordPress notice indication something is not as expected. We can provide you with some troubleshooting steps next.

    Hi,

For question 1: I submitted my answer via the form.

    For question 2: I get 2 errors –

    Error 1 – Have a default theme:

Themes add your site’s look and feel. It’s important to keep them up to date, to stay consistent with your brand and keep your site secure.

Your site has 1 installed theme, and it is up to date.

Your site does not have any default theme. Default themes are used by WordPress automatically if anything is wrong with your chosen theme.

Error 2 - One or more recommended modules is missing

PHP modules perform most of the tasks on the server that make your site run. Any changes to these must be made by your server administrator.

The WordPress Hosting Team maintains a list of those modules, both recommended and required, in the team handbook (opens in a new tab).

Warning The optional module, fileinfo, is not installed, or has been disabled.
Warning The optional module, imagick, is not installed, or has been disabled.`

Many thanks for sharing the additional information. While nothing obvious stands out from the information within your Site Health information can you deactivate and uninstall the Site Kit plugin before installing once more, from the WordPress plugin repository.

If the same critical error appears on your Site Kit dashboard after reinstalling please share the following:

    1. Do you see this notice anywhere else on your site, and not specifically on your Site Kit dashboard?
    2. Do you see any browser console errors when checking your Site Kit dashboard from a Chrome browser incognito window?

Hi, unfortunately it seems that problem still exists.

    Hello @lvlupbets ,

It seems this is more relevant to third party theme or plugins. To rule out third party conflict can you please apply basic troubleshooting steps?

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    2. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    3. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    4. Visit Site Kit dashboard where you are observing error

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

PS: Make sure you have installed any WP Default Twenty theme before applying basic troubleshooting steps.

    Thanks & Regards,

@lvlupbets Thanks for your patience here. Upon further research, this was a bug in the Site Kit plugin. We’ve just released version 1.38.1, which includes the fix for this issue. Can you please try updating the plugin and let us know if you still have trouble?

As we didn’t receive a response I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist.
