I am trying to configure Google Analytics and I am getting a modsecurity error. Hostgator has already adjusted everything on the server and verified that the domain is on withelist, but I still get that error. Can you help me? Thanks

    Thank you, @mpoujade!

As James noted, we’re continuing to discuss this with the HostGator team and will report back as soon as we have more info.

@mpoujade Just to keep you updated we’re still performing some tests from our side on this. We’ll let you know once we have any further updates.

While I don’t have a workaround at present one of the Hostgator representatives did suggest you may need to reach out to Hostgator.mx, requesting the Site Kit service is whitelisted. This may allow you to proceed while we investigate this further on our side.

hostgator gave me all permissions and I still couldn’t solve the problem.

@jlmacedo92 can you please follow the instructions provided by James on the GitHub issue? Feel free to respond back in case if you are still unable to setup Analytics account.

@jamesosborne Hello. I tell you that after some adjustments made by hostgator and installing an update to Site Kit by Google, suggested by wordpress, my problem was solved. Unfortunately hostgator does not specify what modification it made. It just tells me: “… I made some adjustments and at this time I have no more errors accessing the link provided …” Thank you very much everyone for your help.

@mpoujade Great to hear it, many thanks for sharing. We’ll continue investigating from our side, with other users also remaining impacted. Out of curiosity are you a Hostgator US user? They did state to me that any changes that the support team make are only respective to the different regions.

@jamesosborne Hello. I am a Hostgator mexico user. I am in Argentina. What happened is that I first found the consultation forum in English and used it. I did not consult anything else with hostgator, but if necessary I have no problem doing it if that helps to solve the problem for all users. Thanks

Health Check & Troubleshooting can’t work.

@mpoujade Appreciate the update. Can you share what specific adjustments you made to your ModSecurity in order to proceed, were there specific rules applied in your case or did you temporary deactivate during Analytics setup?

@fairsdrive We’d be happy to investigate this with your. This may be as a result of ModSecurity rules that limit long URL strings, but please open an individual support topic and share your current hosting provider so we can check this further.

@mpoujade @fairsdrive Thank you for your patience here! We’ve identified that this error is occurring due to a recent change in Mod_Security rules. While some hosting providers may be able to adjust these rules, others may not, so we’re going to apply an update in the next Site Kit release (before end of June) to fix this error in the plugin. I’ll update this topic again when the fix has been released.

@mpoujade @fairsdrive We’ve implemented a fix for this issue in today’s release of v1.34.1 of Site Kit. Please make sure that your Site Kit plugin is updated and you should be able to successfully set up Analytics now.

I’ll mark this issue as resolved, but feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic if you’re still having trouble and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
