    Hello,

“Site Kit by Google” was working great a few weeks ago, but now it’s inserting a whole bunch of random stuff in the footer of our home page. In the past few weeks we only updated our plugins, and yet this nonsense just started happening out of nowhere. We tried deactivating plugins but the only way to stop the junk from appearing at the bottom of our home page is to just deactivate “Site Kit by Google”.

Below is a small example (but there are pages of this stuff):

@shoreshdavid I’m checking your site now but I don’t see any Site Kit references between the footer scripts. In order to troubleshoot further please share any URLs with the sitekit reference and I can hopefully assist.

It might be worth also checking your optimisation plugins. Temporarily deactivate your caching plugin and any other optimisation or minification plugin before checking once more, or informing me and I can check. Besides plugins your theme may also have minification or optimisation features.

I get this same problem, it worked fine before but now adds a bunch of plain text coding below the footer bar on my home page. Disabling Site Kit plugin removes the text fropm the footer. Here is part of the text it adds:

    Hi Bill8,

For some reason my response to @jamesosborne never made it to this thread.

In our case… we discovered the plain text coding at the bottom of our home page was due to a javascript conflict between WP plugins “Site Kit by Google” and “Email Encoder”. We contacted the author of Email Encoder and he said that problem appeared to be “like some broken HTML due to a wrongly encoded email address”. In case you also have “Email Encoder” installed, here is a link to that thread:

@shoreshdavid Many thanks for the update. I’ll try and recreate the issue from our side and open a GitHub issue if required.

    Hey @shoreshdavid @bill8,

I’m the creator of the Email Encoder plugin and also very interested to solve that.
Unfortunately with the given details, I can’t really figure out where the issue comes from.
I tried a lot of times to reproduce it, but without luck.
What would help me a lot is the following:

    – The current settings for the email encoder plugin
    – The current settings for Sitekit
    – The full page-source of the website with the issue and without the issue

Alternatively, a staging system would help wonders.

@jamesosborne – in case you already have further details, feel free to reach out to me.

Hi @jamesosborne @bill8 – I just wanted to let you know that I could address the issue thanks to @shoreshdavid help.
I will publish the solution for that with our next update.

@shoreshdavid Just confirming everything is good now from your side?

The output you reported should only ever occur while logged-in as an administrator, and I can see that you’ve responded to @ironikus in the other thread.

    Hi @jamesosborne,

Yes, @ironikus was super helpful and put together a fix with amazing alacrity.

At the time of this writing, “Email Encoder” is at v2.0.6. The next version [of Email Encoder] should contain the fix resolving the issue with random text appearing at the bottom of a website homepage when “Site Kit by Google” is installed. After testing the beta I can confirm the output doesn’t occur even when logged in as administrator.

Should the issue reoccur in the future, I will reopen the ticket in the Email Encoder support form. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter. ??

    Warm Regards,
    Chris
