    Hi,

I have an error trying to use site kit with adsense. When I try to connect the service I get a quick red error (Ad client not found.) with a progress bar that never goes anywhere.

This worked until yesterday but after receiving a notice from adsense that my account wasn’t approved, I tried to fix the issues and re-applied. I saw the error once I tried to connect site kit once again.

I went ahead and put in the google adsense code into the header by myself and I can see them there when I check the page source. Adsense also sees it as it’s now reviewing my site. However the error on site kit is still there if I click on it again.

Do note that I have not yet been approved for adsense, but I can’t even get past that progress bar and to the link to check the approval status.

Accessing the google adsense website shows no error. I get in and can see the “we’re reviewing your site” message.

My site health status is good, with only a couple of recommended improvements, including updating the version of PhP.. but not sure this affects site kit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    My website is veganhomeandtravel.com

    Cheers,
    Seb

  • Hey Seb,

Thanks for opening the support ticket.

We have already received few queries regarding this issue & its created on GitHub repo as well.

To understand your current setup it would be great if you could share a screen recording of your experience, with Chromes develop tools open. You can use a service such as Loom or Recordit to easily share. If you prefer to share privately feel free to share the video link in this form.

It may also be useful to know the status of your site when you access the “Sites” tab from adsense.google.com.

    Hi,

I filled in the form and sent you 2 videos with loom. Hope I did all this correctly! ??

As for the status of the site, it’s still being reviewed so I can’t access the status.

    Cheers,
    Seb

@sebranger @jongchansshi @bloomwithsabina We’ve released a fix for this issue in today’s 1.28.0 release, which you can read more about here. If your AdSense account is in review, you should now see a message indicating that your account is getting ready in Site Kit > AdSense, as opposed to the loading bar. If your AdSense account has been approved, you should see AdSense information in Site Kit > AdSense. Please let us know if you are still experiencing issues. If you have any other questions, please feel free to create a new topic. Thank you for using Site Kit!

Hi, I finally was able to get my AdSense account approved! I did this without sitekit and putting in the AdSense code myself. I’m thinking it could be useful to have sitekit connected now, but when I tried to connect it I get a message saying that I already have a code on my site, but that you recommend sitekit to place the code.

SO.. what do I do here? Do I click on “enable AdSense code placed by Site Kit” and leave it at that? Or must I take out the code that I already inputted before doing this?

I am not sure of the steps here to take without screwing up everything ??

    Cheers,
    Seb

@sebranger Glad to hear your AdSense account was approved!

You’ll need to remove the code that you added manually first, then connect AdSense via Site Kit as you originally did. This will re-add the AdSense code to your site, but this time via Site Kit, so that you can view AdSense information within the Site Kit Dashboard in WordPress. If you don’t remove the manually added code, an error will occur because you’ll have AdSense code on your site twice – once manually, and once via Site Kit.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
