Site Kit bug in AdSense implementation
-
I had a problem on 3 out of 4 sites. The time spent on page according to GA dropped dramatically after deploying Google AdSense.
Comparing the period before and after the problem – bouncerate dropped abnormally (almost 100%) and the number of pages visited per visit increased abnormally (1 extra page). This leads me to think that there was “some” error in the implementation of the main code (not the scripts of the ads themselves, because the change in the ads is also on pages where the decal banner is not. I implemented AdSense with the WordPress plugin Site Kit from Google.
This problem is on 2 Czech sites and one Slovak version. On the SK version of Vyber-si.sk there is no problem, although the implementation procedure was completely identical.
My reasoning is that something in combination with the AdSense code causes something like a soft refresh of the page, because GA doesn’t count it as a new session (visit), which it should correctly when refreshing, but causes something like a click-through inside the site. User-wise, nothing is visible on the page at first glance.
This is unfortunately where my options end and I don’t know how to proceed. Have you by any chance ever solved something like this? Can you please advise me and solve the problem? I’m afraid that Google’s algorithm may very soon start penalizing sites due to low time on page relative to competing projects, and search positions may drop…
Thank you for your answer!M.H.
