Thanks for reaching out. In relation to this site where this behavior is occurring does this happen just after successfully connecting and verifying your site, or after activating on of the additional modules such as Tag Manager or AdSense?

Hi James, Thanks for the reply. The site runs perfectly fine with all the plugins activated. The moment I click “activate” in the plugins window and then look at the home page of my site the sample I posted is what it looks like. No, I did not even try to do the Site Kit setup as I have done on my other sites.

Thanks for the update. If you’ve setup Site Kit previously on this site there may be additional modules connected once you activate Site Kit, some modules may output scripts or features to your site, such as Tag Manager depending on how you’ve configurated at product level.

In order to troubleshoot further please share your Site Health information privately using this form. Please ensure you have Site Kit active before sharing this information, so I can check your current plugin setup.

Thanks again for your help. Yes what I have done is 2 site health reports, one without Site Kit active and then a second one with Site Kit active so you can see the difference.
I have submitted them on one form.
BTW the other pages seem to be all ok with a quick look it is only the front/home page that gets messed up.

Many thanks for sharing the additional information. Nothing immediately stands out from the information provided, and I’m unable to recreate the same issue when using the free version of your active theme. As I also didn’t notice any optimization plugin or hosting feature which may result in this behavior lets try some more troubleshooting steps.

    1. Does the same issue arise if you disable the admin toolbar, or when you check your site as a non logged in user?
    2. Does the same issue occur if you temporarily swtich to the parent theme, as opposed to your active child theme?
    3. From the crzygifts.com site you mentioned where this issue doesn’t occur with the same setup you seem to be using a coming soon plugin or feature. Can you confirm the issue doesn’t occur on this site using the same child theme, without the coming soon feature active?

Hi James, thanks for your patience with this problem.

    1. “Does the same issue arise if you disable…”:
Did 1 to 3 on the crzygifts site and everything stayed OK.
But on Silverjewels I get a total white screen landing page when the “Show Toolbar” is activated but my admin dashboard is ok. Disable this and the landing returns to the “broken” page. this is after I activated the parent theme. Reactivated the child to double check and get the same outcome.

    2. “Does the same issue occur…”
Did it every which way, as you can see above in 2 and more.

    3. I have turned off the “coming soon” plugin on crzygifts and you will see the page is ok. The theme page has the same setup as the silverjewel site but as you can see a very little content.
I am still stumped. I have the theme on a few other sites with Site Kit active but this is the only one with this problem.

Thanks for sharing, very strange indeed. If you’re willing to check the below it might rule out third party plugin conflicts causing this issue:

    1. Login to your admin panel from a Chrome browser incognito window
    2. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin.
    3. Navigate to “Plugins > Health Check & Troubleshooting > Troubleshoot”.
    4. From the same screen click on the “Available Plugins” tab at the top right and then click on the “Enable” option next to “Site Kit by Google”
    5. Activate your current WordPress theme from the “Available Themes” option
    6. Attempt to view your site one more

You can exit troubleshooting mode afterwards.

Thanks James, I will do that right away and then report back asap.

Well that is interesting! I went through the setup of Health Check & Troubleshooting on the crzygifts.com as a tester with no problem.
But when I tried to enable the SiteKit plugin on the silverjewelry troubleshooting screen the option “enable while troubleshooting” is not there. Please see the screenshot: https://imgur.com/gallery/G4LNbu9
Now why would this be? Both sites are identical with plugins, themes etc.
BTW this is a great plugin thanks for the heads-up on this.

That’s a first! When you’re in troubleshooting mode can you view the Site Kit option on the right hand tab, as below:

If not it might be worth uninstalling Site Kit in full before installing from the WordPress plugin repository once more.

BTW this is a great plugin thanks for the heads-up on this.

I think so too! Very useful for checking your site without plugins and using a core theme – without deactivating either.

    Thread Starter JanSnowski

    (@jansnowski)

Well noiw that is interesting again, SiteKit does not appear in that dropdown list.
I will uninstall on the regular site and then install again from the repository.

    Thread Starter JanSnowski

    (@jansnowski)

OK so I uninstalled and re installed from the repository.
Activated and the dreaded white screen happened again. I disabled and the normal screen came back.
Went over to Chrome and deactivated Troubleshooting then reactivated, I can see the plugin in the list but when I go to the Available plugins in the top right it is not there.

    Hi James,
I am not sure which time zone you are. I am in South Africa GMT -2 so it is now just before 7pm here. I hope you have a peaceful and happy Christmas and we can catch up after.
    Thanks again,

Thanks for the update. I’ll try and figure out why you can’t activate Site Kit in troubleshooting mode, it may be useful to determine possible conflicts. I’ll get back to you with some additional suggestions.

I hope you have a peaceful and happy Christmas and we can catch up after.

Same to you, many happy returns.

Hi again James, I hope you had a peaceful and healthy Christmas and New Years.
Can we pick this up again and try and find a solution. I would like to redesign my mirror site and use a different theme etc. Let me know as soon as you have a moment, thanks Janek
