I know this topic has been covered, but wondering about any updates on the subject. Is it still the case in Site Kit, that Universal Analytics View is the only option and not GA4

Thanks for reaching out @joe-g. GA4 has been rolled out to all users, however, it may be a case that background updates (via wp-cron), which was used to push out this feature, may not be active for some users. While we are going to extend the scope of how GA4 reporting is available to users, if you are impacted via your background updates in WordPress not working, you can follow the steps below:

    1. Install and activate the WP Crontrol plugin
    2. Navigate to “Settings > Cron Schedules” and click on the “Cron Events” tab
    3. Scroll down to the googlesitekit_cron_update_remote_features hook event and click on “run now”
    4. Check do you have the option to enable GA4 reporting via your Site Kit settings, or share your Site Health information?so I can check if this manual action forced this update

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Thanks for the help James. I installed the WP Control plugin, followed the instructions, and the option slider to enable G4 was not there. Your instructions were pretty straight forward so I’m sure I followed them correctly.

I filled out the Site Health Report via your link and submitted it.

Many thanks for sharing the additional information @joe-g. From reviewing your Site Health information it looks like GA4 reporting is now available for you. To investigate this further, can you logout of your site and log back in, before then sharing a screenshot of your Analytics settings (Site Kit > Settings > Google Analytics > Edit)? The GA4 option is typically the first setting.

Along with a screenshot of your Analytics settings, please share a screenshot of your Site Kit primary dashboard.

If preferred, you can share a recording of both the above. You can use a service such as Loom or RecordIt to share a recording, while using the same form to share this privately.

I’m just following up with you to check whether the error remains? If so please share the information requested above and we can investigate further.

    HI James,

My apologies for the delay. Somehow I didn’t see the notification for your reply. G4 is indeed available and I activated it.

The issue is however, I’m not sure if running the Cron Update was the fix or it was working all along. I’m somewhat sure before the cron update, I selected “edit” and the G4 option was not available, but I can’t say for sure because I was a bit confused between the “edit in analytics” and simply “edit”. I think I was expecting to see the option for G4 in Settings/Analytics/with a slider at the top where it says “Dashboard View”. Obviously now, I needed to Edit first.

Either way, all the G4 metrics in Dashboard are working and I appreciate your help.

Glad to hear it @joe-g. If you have any further Site Kit queries, you know where to find us! Note also that Universal Analytics will be removed from the plugin soon, with no option to switch between the different dashboard views.

    Best of luck!
