Thanks for reaching out?@gorkemh. In order to ensure you can complete setup, we’ll first of all try to determine the cause. In order to do so, please share the following:
- Your Site Health information. You can use this form?to share privately if preferred.??
- Are you able to complete the setup from an Incognito browser?
- Could you share a screenshot or recording of this? You can share this to the private form is you wish.
Let me know if you have any questions with the above.
Hello Adam,
Thank you for your response.
I’m attaching the site health screenshot.
The homepage opens in an incognito window. Even when I’m logged out of my WordPress account, I can still access the homepage. Similarly, I can access pages other than the homepage while logged in as well.
@gorkemh Unfortunately I can’t see all of the Site Health Information from the screenshot you have shared. Please can you share the information to the private form for me to investigate further.
If you are able to access this while in an incognito window then this could be the cause of a plugin conflict. Please follow the troubleshooting steps here to see if you can locate a conflict that is causing this to happen.
Let me know how you get on and if you have any further questions.
Dear Adam,
Thank you so much for trying to help.
The issue I’m experiencing on the site is related to the Google Site Kit plugin. When I deactivate the plugin, my issue is resolved. Will there be a plugin update regarding this?
@gorkemh No problem at all. As we are unsure what the issue is at this time, there isn’t anything we can address. If you deactivate all plugins except for Site Kit on your site do you then see the 500 internal server issue?
It’s likely that there is a conflicting third party plugin with Site Kit or even something at host level that could be causing this.
If you could share a recording of your experience that would also be very helpful for us to see.
I disabled and re-enabled the other plugins, testing them one by one. When all other plugins are disabled and only Google Site Kit is active, the homepage gives a 500 internal server error.
@gorkemh Interesting. It’s possible that there is something at host level conflicting with the plugin so could I please ask you to try going to this URL which will create a temporary WordPress site for testing. Could you confirm if you are able to set up Site Kit on this site without the same issue?
I did the test you suggested. I didn’t encounter any problems.
@gorkemh Thanks for confirming the test results. It’s possible in this case that there is an issue at host level. I’d suggest reaching out to your hosting provider to ensure everything is set up correctly and that there isn’t anything that could be blocking the communication between Google services and your site such as firewall rules or other configurations.
Let me know how you get on with this and if you don’t have any success I’d be happy to continue troubleshooting this with you.
Thank you for your support. I will contact you if I still cannot solve the issue.
@gorkemh No problem at all. I hope you can find a solution to this but please do let us know if not and we can continue to troubleshoot together.
Hi Adam,
The server was restarted, the PHP version was updated, and other plugins were toggled on and off. The issue is clearly coming from the Site Kit plugin—when it’s activated, only the homepage (while the admin panel is active) throws a 500 error.
Other pages are working fine, and there’s no problem with any of the pages when viewed in incognito mode.
The plugins I’m using are as follows:
Contact Form 7
Cookie Notice & Compliance for GDPR / CCPA
Easy Table of Contents
Google taraf?ndan Site Kit
Jetpack
Jetpack Social
Classic Editor
WP Rocket
Yandex Metrica
Yoast Premium
@gorkemh If you are not seeing the issue when checking in incognito mode, this sounds like a conflict of some sort. As you can’t seem to find a conflict with any of your other third party plugins, do you have any Chrome extensions active on your browser? If yes, could you try disabling all of these as well and checking to see if you see the issue once these are disabled in the browser?
I’d also suggest switching your site theme temporarily to a default WordPress theme to see if that makes a difference when viewing your home page.
I’ve checked the extensions, and everything looks fine. There’s a new theme update available, so I’ll back up the site and give it a try.
I’ll let you know the outcome. Thank you so much!
I updated the theme I am currently using but the problem is not solved. I switched to the default theme on your advice.
Using the default theme solves the problem. I think the only solution to this problem is to change the theme.
