Site Keeps Crashing – white wp-admin

  • So this is driving me batty…
    Site keeps returning White Screen on wp-admin and site itself. Then it comes back! Then it disappears… then it comes back!

    Here’s what I’ve done so far:
    1) Disabled Plugins (renamed in FTP)
    2) re-enabled individual Plugins
    3) removed space from bottom of functions.php
    4) replaced Thesis theme (4x) and reimported all custom css, functions, etc.
    5) downgraded to WP 3.5 from 3.5.2

    It all “appears” to have started when I attempted to Save a change the color of some text in a sidebar widget. Went round & round on Save forever, so I hit “Close” and that appears to have killed it (again)!
    Then wait a while, reload, and it comes back… currently not loading ANY plugins for fear of another crash…
    Any help would be deeply appreciated!!

    This is one of the errors I am receiving:

    No data received
    Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
    Here are some suggestions:
    Reload this webpage later.
    Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

  • Is your site, by chance, on GoDaddy? Several other people have reported the same error message on GD servers. Have you asked them about this?

    Have you contacted your hosts? A few major hosting companies are currently suffering issues that have nothing directly to do with WordPress 3.6.

    Yes, GoDaddy.
    Yes, called them and they said, in a hurried voice “Reload your theme… good luck” and basically hung up.

    Maybe GoDaddy is having a meltdown? I did get a “longer than anticipated call volume” the last time I tried to call them…

    Oh! Well that would explain the harried voice and the basic “get off the phone” attitude… Hmmm… so hopefully I haven’t killed my site in an attempt to “fix” something that basically wasn’t broken.
    Yikes!
    If you guys hear anything else, I appreciate any info you’ve got. I’ll go surf around and see what I can see…
