• Hey guys, i get the following error message – searched around for solutions as many has had this problem, but couldn’t find any.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘function’ (T_FUNCTION) in /home/cpanelusername/public_html/mydomain.com/wp-content/themes/zerif-lite/inc/jetpack.php on line 1

Help much appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

So, this time I tried building the site straight off the live production server. Same error.

I conclude it’s the problem with the Jetpack plugin in Zerif lite theme.

I’d try going with another theme this round – least until the developer of this theme finds a solution to this.

    Hi @samnine,

I tested the theme with Jetpack and everything is ok. I think you might get this error due to the way you installed either Zerif Lite or Jetpack.
Can you please let us know if you installed the theme or the plugin via FTP or using the WordPress add theme option/add plugin option?
If you used the FTP you may check this doc https://docs.themeisle.com/article/23-parse-error-syntax-error-on-upload-theme-plugin

    Best regards,

try to transfer again in Binary Mode, you can define the transfer type in your file transfer manager (in Ex. FileZilla)
