• Not a problem really, just very odd: I was working on a website that had favicons through the Customizer. I decided to try RealFaviconGenerator. Once I did so, I went to check the favicons by going to smartphones and tablets and using Chrome and adding the site to the home screen. Instead of adding a bookmark, Chrome added it as a web app. I removed the RealFaviconGenerator favicons and code manually, and the site was no longer a web app. I reinstalled and bingo, it’s now again saved as a web app. What’s the explanation? How is this even possible?

  • Did you notice that when it was in web app form that the navigation tools (back button, etc) were missing? I have this same issue and now have lost the ability to navigate from the favicon “web app” on my phone/mobile device I can’t navigate only click links that move forward.

When the favicon is added to mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Samsung Galaxy, etc) it opens like a web app, which is actually great, except that there are no navigation options (back button, etc) and when you open a link off of one of the webpages that goes to an external link it opens Safari (or equivalent) but when you hit the “back to (webapp)” button in the top left it takes you back to the original homescreen in the webapp not where you left off. Can anyone help?
