• Hi there.

This afternoon the home page of my blog disappeared. I could still access my posts via the direct link and could get into the dashboard.

And then everything vanished. No posts, not dashboard, no nothing. I had tried to update the site, but nothing happened (as in I don’t think the update ran at all…it hasn’t the last few times I tried either)

    So now I have nothing.

This pops up when I try to access it:

The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

It also says that there are too many redirects (there’s only one, it worked fine before, but I deleted it and reestablished it several times today in an attempt to fix it)

How do I fix this? I don’t code so simple is best, please.

Thanks so much in advance. I’m in life crisis over here (on a time crunch and need to get my content back up immediately) and any help is appreciated.

  • You might want to notify your host immediately and ask them what changed on their configuration.

Also, how did you try to update the site?

I had tried to update the site…

    – Try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.

    Hi Tara.

The problem is that I don’t even have an admin panel to get into in order to follow the manual directions. It’s like it doesn’t even exist. Am I missing something?

I contacted my server about it. I’m waiting to hear back from them in case it’s on their end.

Anarresian, I just clicked the update button within my control panel. I actually got an email tonight saying that it had been modified (which makes perfect sense because I can’t even locate it, much less access it haha)

You don’t need dashboard access for manual update.

Please review the link above for instructions.
