• Hello,
I have a new site (maybe a few weeks old) that started out great, but is now loading very slow. I called my host (godaddy) but they sent me packing, so I thought I would ask you all if you can help me figure out the cause/solution.

I’d appreciate any help you can provide.

  • I had the same problem this weekend with a site I still have hosted on GoDaddy. I don’t recommend them for hosting to anyone, and I only have one very old site with them.

First thing’s first: Deactivate all your plugins (except maybe Akismet) and switch to the Default theme. If at this point, everything’s normal, you’ll need to figure out which plugin/theme is causing the problem.

If not, then you need to get very angry with GoDaddy. That’s what worked for me. They tend to understand someone that’s ticked off a lot more than the 4-paragraph, detailed support ticket I sent them.

Also, if you’re on shared hosting, remember that you can experience slow loading times.

    greenshady,
very good advice, and i appreciate you taking the time sir. there was a time when service from godaddy was excellent, but boy has it suffered lately. i still think it is their issue, but i’m going to do what you suggest on the above and see how that works.

btw, did you resolve the issue with your godaddy site?

    thanks again sir…jeb

Yes, my issue was resolved. I was getting PHP page load times between 9 and 30 seconds (not including images, CSS, and JavaScript) for anything connecting to any of my databases (not just WordPress either).

Basically, GoDaddy sent me an email back telling me they didn’t understand my inquiry. This reply took over 24 hours (expected wait time of 9). Since I knew it was a hosting problem and not a WordPress problem, I angrily replied. They had my site running fine within 20 minutes.

    Anyway, that’s enough complaining. ??

Go through the steps above first. If that’s not helping, I’m pretty sure it’s a hosting problem.
