Site Integrity Scan – Infinite Progress Bar
-
Recently I have been unable to complete a WP Cerber scan on multiple sites. Some are hosted by Hostek, others by WP Engine. Some are live sites that need to be updated, others are staging or dev copies of those sites with fully updated plugins, themes and wordpress core. In all of these sites, I have raised the memory to 512MB.
I contacted WP Engine and spent an hour with them on live chat attempting to diagnose the issue and after disabling all plugins and reverting to a Twenty* default theme the problem persisted. The consensus was that this is a WP Cerber issue, not a WP Engine issue. The error is reported immediately when I navigate to WP Cerber->Site Integrity on the dashboard, and after I click Start Full Scan, the Inspector->Network->XHR->Response panel shows a more informative version of the error being reported again and again: “ERROR: Unable to raise memory limit”.
I found a similar thread on this forum where it was stated that that error doesn’t matter as long as the scanner doesn’t hang. Although the scanner bar continues to fill for me, it never stops filling, to the point that the bar extends out of the panel. I let it get more than double the length of the original panel before stopping the scan. Additionally, the memory limit error is accompanied by this line each time it is reported during the scan: “scanned”:{“files”:”0″,”bytes”:null}, indicating that although the bar doesn’t stop filling and hang, nothing is actually being scanned.
I have provided a link to a staging site that is having this problem. I can provide login credentials via email.
Thank you.
