Site Icon or Featured image not appearing when sharing my link in whatsapp

While checking the page source?of your homepage https://ahmadhalabi.net/, we found some duplicate instances of OpenGraph meta tag for?og:image. This looks ambiguous. This could come from either a plugin or the theme you’re using or you’ve added manually. For consistent predictable results, your site should include a single set of social open graph metadata. Please remove the tag and reverify the issue.

I removed the og:image tag that I was added it manually,
and now it’s only added one time by your plugin

and the image is not appearing on whatsapp, only the title, I changed the title and the title changed but the image is not showing.

Regarding WhatsApp, their image requirements and recommendations are different from that of Facebook. Unfortunately we were unable to find an official guideline for the image requirements for WhatsApp, but you can find some similar recommendations here.

In the past it was recommended that the image needed to be under 300kb in size and 256x256px but not larger than 400x400px. We checked on the file you have set for the og:image and see that it measures 500x500px and is 328kb, so if you want the image preview to appear in WhatsApp we would recommend to try using a smaller image that follows those recommendations.

Can you please try the aforementioned suggestions and let us know whether this resolves your issue?

I’m trying to change the og image but it is not changing

I went to appearance -> customize and changed the site icon (og image didn’t changed)

I went to pages -> homepage -> featured image and changed it (og image didn’t changed)

I went to SEO -> search appearance and changed the organization logo (og image didn’t changed)

Also I entered to this https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/
and paste my website link and it didn’t worked

Also I went to SEO -> Social and changed the default image and it didn’t worked

Note: I have a free version of your plugin not paid

can you please help me

We viewed the page source of your homepage and we do see that there is only a single set of open graphs generating now (coming from the Yoast SEO plugin).

When running it through Facebook’s Sharing Debugger Tool here, we do see it is showing the expected preview.

Could you check and share it on WhatsApp again and see if you are now getting the expected preview? Otherwise, if it’s still not working, you may have to contact their support for further assistance, as we can confirm that the Yoast SEO is outputting the open graph tags correctly and it is working when sharing on Facebook.

What we can control in the Yoast SEO plugin is the output of the open graph tags, and we can confirm that the og:image tag is showing as:

We can confirm this is working as expected when sharing it on Facebook’s Sharing Debugger Tool. So it might look to be an issue as to whether WhatsApp is utilizing the open graph tags provided. We recommend reaching out to their support team for further clarification on what metadata they use to generate the social previews when sharing links on WhatsApp.

I will contact the whatsapp support, but no one answered me to my previous question how to change the og image in your plugin because I’m not able to change it.

And also why this problem happened to my site only?
I have many other sites and I didn’t face this problem

You are telling me to ask whatsapp about the og image details,
I don’t have a problem with this I will ask them,

the another problem is that the og image is not changing in your plugin, so If WhatsApp tells me the details, I will not be able to change it.

Hi,

For the og:image for your homepage, this will depend on whether you’ve set your homepage as a static page, or your latest posts (which you can find under Settings > Reading).

If you’ve set it as a static page, you can edit that page specifically, go to the Yoast SEO meta box and then the Social tab and then set a Facebook image from there.

If you’ve set it as latest posts, you can go to your SEO > Search Appearance > General tab > Homepage social settings and set an image from there and save the changes.
