    HI,
I got this error from the Site Health Screen saying that “A scheduled event has failed”.

    Message says:
“The scheduled event, ngg_delete_expired_transients, failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.”

I’m not sure how to fix this. Could someone give me some advice?
    Thanks.

  • Hello @jordipullen,

ngg_delete_expired_transients is a cron job that we run to delete expired transients. We don’t have previous reports of this particular event failing.

We recommend contacting your hosting provider to check if they have some information related to this error. Perhaps they can share their error log files and let us know what is causing the problem?

I’ll reach the developers and share your question, perhaps they have more information.

    We’ll keep you posted.

    Hello @jordipullen

Another agent shared this information with us
    https://wp-mix.com/wordpress-cron-not-working/

I think there is a possible solution and a simple one.
Please, try to add the following line to your wp-config.php file:

    define('ALTERNATE_WP_CRON', true);

This line invokes WP’s alternate cron method, which seems to work well on any server.

    That should help.
    Please, keep us posted.

    Hi Gaby,
I have inserted the line into the file and the scheduled event error seemed to change to “jetpack_sync_cron”.
Would it be better to contact the jetpack plugin about this?
