This error displays constantly in spite of the fact that:

All modules work without any problem.
    – Pass the test XML-RPC server accepts POST requests only.
    – pass the test “Congratulations! Your site passed the first check,”
    – deactivated and reactivated the Jetpack Boost.
    – reconnected several times.
    – There is no other plugin except the Jetpack.
    – Using the default Twenty Twenty-one theme.

Is this a case of overaggressive Health Check or something?

This seems to be a Jetpack Boost specific issue/bug.

Because, when I deactivate the Jetpack Boost plugin and keep the Jetpack plugin active, then the error disappears.

    Hi @t-p,

I followed the same instructions that you have provided, but I could not reproduce the issue on our side. Could you please confirm if you have Boost 1.0.3 installed and share the URL of your site?

If you want, you can also share details and URL here: [email protected], and we will further try to investigate the issue.

    Thanks!

    yes.

and share the URL of your site

Since this is a test site, I don’t want to make the URL public. Sorry!

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hey @t-p

Could you send a screenshot of the error you face and your server specs and plugins’ list for a review, please?

We will retry the test using the same environment.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    My best regards,

Site Health says: Critical Issue: Wpcom Connecting Test

    That’s All!

    and your server specs

    Shared hosting.
    Server architecture Linux 3.10.0-962.3.2.lve1.5.39.el7.x86_64 x86_64
    Web server Apache
PHP version 7.4.16 (Supports 64bit values)

and plugins’ list for a review

    – As I said in OP, there are only two plugins (1) Jetpack, and (2) Jetpack Boost.
    – Also, as I said in before, if disable Jetpack Boost then Jetpack alone does not display that error.
    – Also as I mentioned before, Even with this error, ALL modules of both plugins I use work FINE!!

This observation suggests me there has to be bug in Jetpack Boost, otherwise (1) why all modules would be working fine with this critical error displayed in Site Health, and (2) why Jetpack does not display this critical error in Site Health when Jetpack Boost is disabled?

    Thanks.

    Further digging reveals that:

1). Site Health displays Critical Issue: Wpcom Connection Test ONLY when both Jetpack AND Jetpack Boost are activated.

2). If one of them is deactivated (any one of these two plugins), the Critical Issue: Wpcom Connection Test disappears.

Hence it appears there is a conflict when both (Jetpack AND Jetpack Boost) plugins are activated.

    Hope this additional info helps.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

@t-p Thanks for the extra details. At this point, I think it would help if we could run some more tests on the site to find out more. Since you’re working on a test site, I’ve reached out to you via Slack about this. Let me know when you get the message. We can then continue investigating there, here in the thread, or via email via the address @bizanimesh posted above. Thanks!
