My site has a “A scheduled event has failed” error in Site Health Status.

It’s reporting “The scheduled event, ACFFA_refresh_latest_icons, failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.”

Is that anything to worry about, or is there any way to stop it being reported?

What version of FontAwesome icons are you using on your site?

    Hi @mattkeys – its Version 4.0.3

Sorry I should have been more clear. I think you are reporting the version of the plugin you are using (that’s the latest version).

But inside of the plugin you can use FontAwesome icons from 4.x/5.x/6.x

Which icon version are you working with?

    Sorry, it’s set to 5.x

Okay thanks for that, 6.x icons no longer use this scheduled event so I wanted to check which version you are on.

This scheduled event basically makes sure that you are on the latest minor version of FontAwesome icons. Now that 6.x is out v5.15.4 is seemingly the last minor version of 5.x that will be released.

In the future I may be able to remove this scheduled event entirely but I’ll have to think about if there are any edge cases where that may cause issues for someone.

As for why the event is not running successfully on your site it is difficult to say, but it should not be causing any harm to you.

    Thank you, Matt.

Are you saying that if I switched to 6.x icons this should go away?

    (@mattkeys)

Well that wasn’t my suggestion, but as a side effect of moving to 6.x icons I would expect this to go away eventually. Although since the wp cron is failing to run it may have to be removed using a tool like WP Crontrol.

If you do decide to use FA 6.x icons, keep in mind that any selections you have previously made with this plugin and 5.x icons may need to be reselected, as there are some big changes to the underlying codebase in this plugin between the two versions.

    OK, thank you Matt
