Please help! I am trying to increase my website speed and optimize loading and images. I thought Jetpack was supposed to help but it made my site slower, according to the status bars. I really know nothing of designing or maintaining a website…I am broke and cannot afford to have someone do it for me lol. I am trying to sell my art with a simple website but it is SOOO SLOW. What can I do? Why isnt Jetpack Boost helping? Please let me know what I am doing wrong.
    Thank you so much

    Hi there

I’m sorry to hear you got a lower score after activating Jetpack Boost.

Did you enable all of the modules at once? What were your scores before and after?

I’d suggest you try enabling them one by one to see if there’s a specific module that’s causing the problem.

You can also enter your site URL at https://web.dev/measure/ to get more information about what is causing the speed issues. It looks like it’s mainly to do with your images, so optimizing those using something like WPSmush may help improve your site’s speed.

Please let us know what you find by enabling one feature at a time, and let us know if you need more help.

My score was high (all green, high 70’s I think) on desktop and about 24 on mobile before enabling the three Boost categories. Then it got WAY worse, all red on both! I disabled them one by one and it got better each time, but still FAR worse than it was. 16 mobile 51 desktop.

Did Jetpack roll this thing out untested, too early, and screw up my website? How do I undo this?

    Hi @diver4242

Thanks for providing more information here. Jetpack Boost was definitely not released untested and has been out for over a year now.

That said, there is a lot of variability when it comes to optimizing a site’s speed and it may be that Boost isn’t the right tool for you, depending on a number of factors such as your host, the theme you are using, or the combination of plugins being used.

Since you have disabled Boost on your site, it will have no bearing on your site’s scores when measuring in Google PageSpeed. It’s also worth noting that PageSpeed scores may vary each time you run them depending on your location and server response time.

I ran your site through another performance tool (GTMetrix.com) and noticed that your site is loading ~17 MB of images on the initial page load. If you run your site through the Google PageSpeed tool there are some tips on how to resolve this:

    I hope that helps.
